wise man

Inhale, and God approaches you. Hold the inhalation, and God remains with you. Exhale, and you approach God. Hold the exhalation, and surrender to God.
Kai Yoga.

Dear Kai Yoga Students and Friends,

I would like to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and ask that you keep in touch. I hope you are all doing well and taking good care of yourselves.

This holiday, I would also like to take this opportunity to speak to you about a very important and urgent issue that is at hand.

Some of you may already know Robert, who you might have seen riding his bicycle around town with his bucket and pole in hand. Robert was our window washer at Kai Yoga and became very close to us at the studio. We are appealing now for badly needed donations for Robert as he urgently needs shelter. He is severely affected with rheumatoid arthritis in his hands and knees, to the degree of a deformity of his hands that does not allow him to hold any outside employment. He was recently knocked down and robbed of his wallet, income, bicycle and a few kitchen things he had managed to collect for himself and fractured his arm in the process. Robert is totally without shelter or income, and his case falls through the cracks in the welfare system. He does not qualify for public housing as he has no income. We have made sure his case is in the system to try to qualify for Social Security Income, and this is in process but may take some time to come in, although due to the severity of his condition, the case worker is also trying to expedite his case.

With this in mind, we are appealing for donations from those touched by Robert's case, and to ask that whoever is able to do so, donate a sum each month to this cause, until such time that his SSI income has started to come in and Robert can once again be independent and care for himself. At this time, he has no shelter and no income.

We have found a small cottage that would be suitable for Robert and the rental is $275 per month. If a few of our friends would be willing to donate a small sum each month, until such time as his Social Security Income has been approved,  this would serve to see Robert through the next few very cold months and would take care of a fellow human's very basic needs at the very least.

I know this is a hard and difficult time for everyone, but if you can find it in yourself to commit to any amount, according to your own ability and without adding on any undue burden on yourselves, it would be a very great thing, not only for Robert, but also for yourself; all will be tremendously benefitted. This is a very genuine, urgent and needy case that is standing right in front of us; and I know that if each helps, just a little, that someone we know will at least have a dry and warm bed to sleep in, a place to eat and safe place to stay in the coming cold winter months; something we all already have and must be always grateful for.

These funds will be fully protected and accountable by myself and Beverly and can be used as a tax deduction.  Please let us know if you are able to assist Robert.  We are most grateful and thank you for any help you are able to extend. We will be in further touch with information on where to send donations.

warm regards,

Karen and Beverly
